Lead yourself well…
Lead yourself well.
Only by switching your lens, by looking within can you truly begin to lead yourself well. The change in your lens will lead to the transformation in life you are waiting for.
As leaders, coaches, and just as people it can be so easy to see the shortcomings and missteps of everyone but yourself. Which often comes from the right place, you so badly want to see everyone around you be their best. You want to be a truth teller, you want to speak life, you want to help people move in the right direction. You have to be moving in the right direction first, which all comes down to how you lead yourself.
Strategies to leading yourself well…
Looking within before looking outward.
Avoid getting caught in comparison.
Eliminate the distractions around you.
Create genuine connections with others.
Strengthen the condition of your mindset.
By failing to lead yourself well you are setting yourself up to fail those you are leading. By getting caught in comparison and distraction you are allowing yourself to be deterred and defeated. By failing to connect with others you are creating self-isolation. By ignoring the need to strengthen your mind, you slowly will weaken your mind.
The principle is simple, lead yourself well and you will be better suited to impact, lead, and serve those around you. Flip your lens, and put yourself ahead of others so in turn, you can actually be the best version of yourself and come through when others are counting on you.
The most sure-fire way to end up letting everyone else down is by letting yourself down first. Stop allowing yourself to be what holds you back, start leading yourself well. Start making changes. The challenge of changing doesn’t go away, it only gets easier when you do it.
So, switch that lens, and start looking within. It takes a level of humility. A posture and willingness to accept how much focus and work you need to do on YOU.
Right now, stop, take a moment, shift your lens from everything around you to yourself, and start taking steps to lead yourself well.
