You either don't know, or you don't care.

You either don't know, or you don't care.

If you know what you need to do and you still don’t do it, you simply don’t care enough.

There is no gray area, there is no in between the lines. There is getting the job done and not getting the job done.

Let’s say you actually don’t know the direction, expectation, or answer, do you care enough to find out? Do you care enough to learn what you don’t know? Do you care enough to find a way?

As soon as you know the direction, it’s on you to meet that standard.

Let’s just say for example you missed a deadline; you were assigned to submit a monthly report first thing on the morning of the 1st evert month. You miss that deadline. It doesn’t matter if you missed the deadline by 1 minute, by an hour, or by a full day. If you knew when it was supposed to be submitted and you still didn’t do it, you simply didn’t care enough.

An explanation, an excuse, a reason for why you came up short will always be there to ease the internal blow of your own shortcomings. That is not good enough. Your explanation doesn’t change the fact that your actions show you don’t care. Your excuse doesn’t change the fact that you didn’t get the job done.

Stop allowing yourself to take the easy way out, stop allowing yourself to blame your own shortcomings on “not knowing.”

You know what to do, so do it. If you don’t know what to do, ask for help, ask for direction, do anything but just settle for “I didn’t know.”

I didn’t know will get you beat. I didn’t know will get you fired. I didn’t know will get you nowhere.

If you truly care enough, nothing will stop you. Nothing will slow you down. Nothing will prevent you from getting the job done to the level that you know is expected of you.

Know the direction, know the standard, and show how much you care by your refusal to stop short of meeting that standard.
